História do Jardim Botânico
A origem do Jardim Botânico foi fruto da paixão do naturalista Frederico Carlos Hoehne, em 1928, quando iniciou o Orquidário do Estado, na Água Funda. Hoje, são 143 hectares abrigando várias espécies vegetais. Em seu interior foram construídas duas estufas - que se tornaram a marca do Jardim Botânico -, uma abriga plantas típicas da mata atlântica, enquanto a outra é destinada a exposições temporárias. O Instituto de Botânica dispõe de uma biblioteca com cerca de 6.400 livros, inúmeras obras do século passado e um acervo botânico sem igual no Estado de São Paulo. No Museu Botânico encontram-se inúmeras amostras de plantas da flora brasileira, uma coleção de produtos extraídos de plantas, fibras, óleos, madeiras, sementes e também quadros e fotos representativos dos diversos ecossistemas do Estado. No conjunto arquitetônico-cultural do Jardim Botânico destacam-se, além do Museu, o Jardim de Lineu, inspirado no Jardim Botânico de Uppsala, na Suécia, as estufas históricas, o portão histórico de 1894, e o marco das nascentes do riacho Ipiranga.
History of the Botanical Garden
The origin of the Botanical Garden was the fruit of the passion of Frederico Carlos Hoehne naturalist,
in 1928, when
the state began Orchids in Deep Water.
Today there are 143 hectares harboring several plant species. Inside were built two greenhouses - which became the hallmark of the Botanical Gardens - home to a typical plants of the rainforest,
while the other is intended for temporary exhibitions.
The Institute of Botany has a library with about 6,400 books,
many works of the last century and a unique botanical collection in the State of Sao Paulo. In the Botanical Museum are many specimens of plants of the flora,
a collection of products extracted from plants,
fibers, oils, wood, seeds
and also pictures and photos representative of the diverse ecosystems of the state. In the architectural and cultural highlight of the Botanical Garden is in addition to the Museum, the
Linnaeus Garden,
inspired by the Botanical Garden of Uppsala, Sweden,
greenhouses historical record of the gate in 1894,
and March Ipiranga the headwaters of the creek.
